Here's my story: The night after I had been released by my doctor who performed my Hysterectomy I rolled over and felt the worse pain in my life. It felt like someone had stuck a knife into my belly button and cut straight down to my groin. I was in so much pain, it was hard to breathe and I couldn't move for a long time. I never realized that anyone could experience such pain. So the next day I called my doctor, she informed me that I might have pulled a muscle and it should be alright in a day or two. Because she had just released me, she informed me that there was nothing truly wrong.
Days went on and the pain continued to get worse. I went to the emergency room and they told me there was nothing wrong with me after taking some tests. I went to my primary doctor and he told me that he couldn't find anything wrong with me. So I called this OB/GYN doctor again and she told me that it was all in my head and that I had been to lazy prior to being released so there was nothing she could do. I even went to the doctor who did the bladder sling and he never could find anything wrong. But at least he took this pain much more serious than any of the other doctors.
Finally, a few months later I went to a different OB/GYN that a girlfriend of mine recommended. He was fantastic!!! He immediately recognized, by my explanation, that I had text book symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis, Vulvodynia, Post Hysterectomy Syndrome (not sure this is the correct word, for now I will leave it, but will change it once I check out one of my other pages), and Pelvic Pain Disorder. He couldn't understand how any of the doctors that I saw didn't recognize the symptoms. At last, a doctor that didn't think was a quack case.
He helped me out with the last three disorders, but sent me to a Urologist/GYN for the interstital cystitis. He then sent me to physical therapy for my vulvodynia. So between the three of them, a few months later I started to feel some relief. I was told that it would take a long time, since I had gotten so bad. I complained alot at first, but after being told off in a polite way, I went along with the treatments without major complaints.
I still live with these problems, I take meds for the Interstial Cystitis daily, and have learned to live with the others. They still flair up at times, but nothing like that very beginning.
Here is a book that I found very helpful during my worst episode of Interstitial flareups. I hope it can help you. Just click on the book and it will take you to Amazon.com to look into further.
